Welcome to an Arizona “sitcom” combining the best of … The Three Stooges, The Sopranos and the Keystone Cops…
Starring … Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and Maricopa County Supervisor Don Stapley, who each loves to play games and each loves being in the spotlight.
And each of them enjoys puffing up in a manner of … Dirty Harry … to utter … “go ahead, make my day” …or uttering one of those immortal lines from the … Godfather … “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse” …
But for my money these three more aptly portray … the 3 Stooges … playing Larry, we have Don Stapley, as Curley we have Andrew Thomas and as Moe, Joe Arpaio. While their antics are at times and in the moment sometimes humorous they are fundamentally the fumblers and bunglers of their alter egos, coupled with the Keystone Cops of being totally perplexed as to the reality or gravity of the situation they are creating.
It matters not to any of these three as they are each hell bent on gamesmanship and proving to each other I am Hill of the Hill … I’m the boss, so there, take that. And all the while the meek, timid, blind, deaf and dumb citizens of Maricopa County watch afraid to just stand up to each of them and say … ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP … there is work to be done and if you are not prepared to do it immediately, then YOU’RE FIRED.
What the Hell are we waiting for … they work for us … we do not work for them

NO COMMENT, wink, wink
NO COMMENT … wink, wink … it’s a game and though most everyone knows it, we still choose to fall prey to its deviousness. Why…?
Most, though certainly not all no comment … remarks … are but triggers, signals, smoke screens, devices deliberately sent out reeking with a latent message.
The game instantly understood is to be the first to decipherer the alleged hidden gem and purposefully as yet undisclosed political or social nugget.
And being able to attach some veiled, cloaked, dark, particularly sinister aspect and WOW have you got a story to tell and a most willing voyeur audience anxious to hear and see it unfold. The more tawdry, the better, and allowing it to unfold in an almost excruciating painfully slow manner, though driving everyone crazy, the greater the level of growing anxiety and expectation of a tumultuous climax on the part of this anxious voyeur audience.
When queried we often remark our abhorrence to this “no comment” nonsense while secretly delighting in the growing hysterics and theatrics, a virtual shark like feeding frenzy and “we” are, there, avidly watching it unfold.
This is what “real” life for us has become and we get to watch it “live” on TV.
