Fearless Republican leader removed for rebuking

Trump at Women’s March

By Leslie Salzillo    State Rep. Beth Fukumoto (R-Hawaii) expressed her dismay and disdain against Donald Trump and in return, her GOP colleagues voted out her of her Republican minority leader position, which she has held since 2012.

Bill Chappell with NPR reports Fukumoto said her fellow Republicans ousted her because she participated in the Women’s March and protested the Trump presidency.” The 33-year-old lawmaker stated:

"They told me they would keep me in this position if I would commit to not disagreeing with our president for the remainder of his term. Mr. Speaker, I’m being removed because I refused to make that commitment, because I believe it’s our job as Americans and as leaders in this body to criticize power when power is wrong."

On January 21, 2017, Fukumoto spoke at Hawaii’s Women’s March which coincided with millions of women and men protesting against Donald Trump around the world. She spoke about how she was booed and insulted by her party during the Republican National Convention because she refused to endorse Trump. Now that he is president, it’s a different situation, but Fukumoto doesn’t seem to care. She continues to speak her truth.

Putting Kellyanne Conway on TV is promoting fake news, and from now on, the networks own it

By Laura Clawson  Bottom of Form …Here’s what Kellyanne Conway came up with to defend her invention of a nonexistent “massacre” to justify Donald Trump’s Muslim ban: She tweeted that “Honest mistakes abound,” and for example, “Last night, prominent editor of liberal site apologized for almost running a story re: tweet from fake account.” Oh, well then, that settles … wait a minute. Almost? Almost running a story on a tweet from a fake account is just like going on national television and inventing a massacre to justify an actual policy that the White House has implemented, to the actual destruction of people’s lives? And let’s talk about the media’s role here.

On the one hand, you have the “prominent editor of a liberal site” apologizing for something they almost did. On the other hand, you have Kellyanne Conway on television virtually every day despite the fact that she is a known liar. Despite the fact that she tries to pass off blatant lies as “alternative facts.” Yes, she’s a top White House aide … but anyone booking her for a television news spot knows that it’s overwhelmingly likely she will use their show to peddle lies. Why would you book her under those circumstances?

The one legitimate reason to do so would be to call out her lies aggressively, to push her to the limit of her ability to lie and to expose falsehood as the Trump communications policy. But that’s not what Chris Matthews did Thursday night. Conway made up a “massacre” and attacked the media for not having covered this thing that did not exist, and Matthews just moved on. He didn’t even stop to ask her what she was talking about. Or to ask why the concern for a fake “massacre” while Trump is silent on a mass shooting at a mosque.

News shows that book Kellyanne Conway do so knowing that she will use their platform to spread falsehoods. She has a proven track record on that front and shows no signs of changing. At this point, it’s on the producers and interviewers. Either they confront her lies or they own responsibility for them. Which will it be?

But it’s been good enough to keep getting her re-elected…

‘Fence Sitter’ Martha McSally has got to stand for somethin’

Posted: 03 Feb 2017 01:38 PM PST ….Rep. Martha McSally’s short political career has been most notable for her gravity-defying fence sitting, trying to maintain her perch on the fence having it both ways without ever taking a principled stand on anything. She literally stands for nothing. … Continue reading

I never realized they had one

…What was the GOP me$$age … I guess I never realized they had one…

The GOP is losing their message. In record time.

By Murfster35      The GOP is actually starting to make me crack up with some of the silly stuff they’ve been saying lately. Not Der Gropinfuhror, he is both toxic and dangerous, especially where foreign affairs are involved. I’m talking about run of the mill, line Republicans. Did you catch the way John McCain tried to walk between raindrops yesterday? Trying to show how stupid Mein Furor was in picking a fight with the Prime Minister of Australia, without actually directly criticizing “The Man” himself. Groucho Marx couldn’t have done it better.

But, by far and away, the Gold Medal winner in the backpedaling my ass off, mealy mouthed political speak category is Paul Ryan. The entire GOP has spent the last 6+ years promising to repeal and replace Obamacare if they ever got the reins of power. Now they have those, but no replacement to show for it. Last Friday, based on pressure from insurance companies and other GOP sources, suddenly “repeal and replace Obamacare” was amended to “repair Obamacare”. That went over like the original lead balloon. By Monday, Ryan was “put on notice” by the Tea Party base that anything less than at least a carbon copy of the 2015 bill that actually made it to Obama’s desk, to be vetoed, would lead to open mutiny.

Which led Ryan to yet another circus contortionist verbal act yesterday, stating that the GOP objective had not changed, that it was still to “repeal, replace. and repair Obamacare”. There’s just one problem there. One of those words is mutually exclusive. If you “repeal” something, there is no need to “repair” it, it is wiped off of the books. And if you “repeal and replace” something, by logical definition the replacement should be superior, there should be no “repair” necessary! These verbal gymnastics from Paul Ryan are not very likely to get him a bunch of 10.0’s from the judges, and a gold medal.

The minute I heard this inane word salad from Speaker Ryan, it overwhelmingly remind me of one thing, and one thing only. And so, I present it to you now, and I’ll leave it up to you to tell me in the comments whether I’m right or not. Enjoy.

Donald Trump brings in two male CEOs to lead discussion on ‘Women in the Workforce’

By Jen Hayden   ….From the “You Can’t Make This Shit Up” files, Donald Trump is hosting a CEO roundtable discussion today with eight mega-corporation CEOs:

President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with a group of chief executives Friday morning to discuss issues including regulation, trade and women in the workforce. Here is the list of the CEOs who are expected to speak about each topic, as circulated by the White House.

Oh? Okay, as a woman in the workforce, I’m intrigued to see who he’s bringing in. Maybe Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors? Maybe even Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo? Maybe Ginni Rommetty, Chairman, President, and CEO of IBM? Nope, he brought in two experts who really understand the issues of women in the workplace:
