The corrosion of support for First

Amendment principles started before Trump. He’s

supercharged it.

Chilling poll numbers point to a civic crisis.

Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances...

Every President from Washington to Trump, has to one degree or another, impacted some aspect of this amendment to our constitution, most notably, in a manner so as to deny and/or lessen, the unabridged exercise of a specific right enumerated therein.

Religion … Speech … Press … Assemble  … Petition  … one might conclude fundamental keystones to America’s representative democracy … where in it clearly appears no impediments are to be imposed on anyone to legitimately exercise these rights elaborated therein.

And of these five … “rights” … their keystone is FREEDOM  OF  SPEECH … without which the others are doomed.

Restriction on the exercise of – – Freedom of Speech – – began with George Washington …  “If men are to be precluded from offering their sentiments on a matter, which may involve the most serious and alarming consequences that can invite the consideration of mankind, reason is of no use to us; the freedom of speech may be taken away, and dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep, to the slaughter.” …

One of the more contemporary aggress assaults on Freedom of Speech was initiated by President George W Bush following the false-flag events of 11 Sept 2001, with the creation and implementation of  his now infamous Patriot Act..

The Patriot Act circled … Religion … Speech … Press … Assemble  … Petition … granting  those currently  occupying the seat of power to unilaterally restrict any of these enumerated rights whenever they perceived there was a need to “protect”…

In one-fell- swoop by the lawful exercise of the power granted them under our representative democracy our government representatives chose to restrict and/or give up these 5 rights for the illusion of PROTECTION…

Protection from what…???    Those undefined, unidentified boogie-men as conjured up by those, in the moment, in power to attain proclaimed agenda goals…
