Unindicted co-conspirator invokes his executive privilege to withhold 100K of Kavanaugh pages

First Amendment  Community…2018/09/01 · 06:48Records

Former President George W. Bush actually instructed his attorney to err“on the side of transparency and disclosure,” when providing records of Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh and they did.

How did unindicted co-conspirator Donald Trump react to this full disclosure? Exactly what you would expect from this crooked President. Donald Trump invoked executive privilege that instructed Bush’s attorney to withhold 100K in documents on Kavanaugh.

The Trump administration is withholding more than 100,000 pages of Brett Kavanaugh’s records from the Bush White House on the basis of presidential privilege ahead of the Supreme Court nominee’s confirmation hearing.

The Senate Judiciary Committee was notified of the action Friday. George W. Bush’s attorney Bill Burck told the panel it had essentially completed its work compiling documents, according to a letter obtained by The Associated Press. Bush directed them to err "on the side of transparency and disclosure, and we believe we have done so."

But the current administration is also able to review the records, and the Trump White House "has directed that we not provide these documents," the letter says.

I’m certain Brett Kavanaugh has no problem with what Trump did here, because he’s been a staunch defender that the ”executive branch should be excused from some of the burdens of ordinary citizenship while serving in office.”

“I believe that the President should be excused from some of the burdens of ordinary citizenship while serving in office,” Kavanaugh wrote in 2009, three years after Bush appointed him to the D.C. Circuit. “This is not something I necessarily thought in the 1980s or 1990s. Like many Americans at that time, I believed that the President should be required to shoulder the same obligations that we all carry. But in retrospect, that seems a mistake.”

In his 12 years on the bench, Kavanaugh has written nearly 300 opinions, often supporting presidential power and urging restraint of government bureaucracy, as The Washington Post’s Michael Kranish and Ann E. Marimow reported.

“He is a staunch defender of executive prerogative,” Stephen Vladeck, professor of constitutional law at the University of Texas School of Law, previously told The Post. “The question is just how far he would go in cases really testing whether there is any limit to that theory.”

These Kavanaugh views alone deserve a complete vetting of this nominee.

What is the Trump administration hiding on Kavanaugh? Why are the Republicans rushing through this SCOTUS nomination without all his records being examined?

We already have an illegitimate “president”. If Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed with 100K pages of records being withheld, we will have an illegitimate Supreme Court Justice as well.
